the Easter Eve strip from March 23 2008

Once, several years ago, I was in Hawaii with my friend, Paul - and we decided to climb Diamond Head, to watch the sunrise on Easter morning. This would replace going to church, and we felt justified by doing so. Of course, the morning was just beautiful, and at that time, you could drive up to the Diamond Head parking lot, and just begin hiking at whatever time you wanted, so it was easy enough to get to the top for sunrise. Climbing Diamond Head in the dark was always an interesting experience, let me tell you. We took our time, and by the time we arrived at the top, we still had about 10 minutes before sunrise. And then we saw the sun come up, and it was terrific. In the sky, on the opposite side of the sunrise, a rainbow had formed, and this rainbow was without end, just a big circle. We had never seen a rainbow like that before, and took it as a sign - that God had given us that special gift, just like the gift of his son.

God's greatest gift of all is his son, Jesus Christ - and we are so blessed to have been the recipient of that gift - that Jesus died on the cross for our sins, and rose from the dead to offer us everlasting life. Halleluja!
