April 2008's last cartoon!

So, here they are - in the prime of their life - Myrtle and Ed, at another of the Central Methodist Alumni reunions, which they attend regularly. And Myrtle sees Emelda Sapp. This situation has always been something that I think would happen to me: I'm at a reunion, and I see someone who I haven't seen for eons, but then all of a sudden remember something concerning that someone, and get all goey and gushy about it. Perhaps that's why I've never attended one of my school reunions.
But I also wanted to try something else: creating a veeeeerrrrry long word balloon that says a lot...and I think I've achieved it. I'm going to check and see if there's a possibility of being listed in the Guiness book of world records, or something like that. Only Myrtle could have pulled this off. I hope she never finds out about Sally Crup!!

the one that ran on April 19 2008

Who would have thought there would ever be an event called "Internet Safety Night"? But it's coming, and sounds like it could be informative. Perhaps we'd learn a few things. Now, if Francis Feigenbaum (pictured, with daughters Myrtle and Elsie) had not ever bothered to get one of those "ding dang computers", she wouldn't be concerned with this event, naturally.
I know how she feels. Sometimes I feel like I'm just hanging on by a thread (or a cable, I guess) with the constant turnover and upgrades that this technology involves. This morning I was reading about some of the updates and such, for users of Blogger, and I was really lost...kept asking myself, "What does that mean?"
So, you're not alone, Francis. And don't forget: watch out for those dental thieves!

from April 12 2008

Living in the country has it's advantages and disadvangtages; there's the continuous beauty and peace, and there's the contstant threat of having your garden invaded by unwanted guests. My friend, Paul, grows a great garden each year, and he battles with those vegetable criminals in different ways. One year, we hung tin pans, plastic bags and panty hose filled with moth balls - but none of it seemed to work. We've never considered modern dance! Today's characters: Steffie and Adam Tucker, and their grandpa, Sage Weatherwise.

April's first strip

I remember when my Mom and Dad would go out for the evening...but it was never as exciting as these Tuckers kids are making it, in this strip. I tend to remember Mom preparing hamburger with beans - that was the meal that us kids would have whenever Mom was out with Dad. And since I was a kid, I didn't like beans, so I spent a good part of my dinner picking out the beans, and just eating the hamburger. But I really don't remember babysitters, since my older sister usually filled that role. Now, I'm not bragging, but I do remember being the babysitter, and having kids react like this. But what is it about Myrtle that's so different from Ed? Perhaps the tuna sandwiches tell the tale. They remind me of hamburger with beans.
