the strip from March 29 2008

This panel features Elsie and Sage Weatherwise...such a loving couple. But there is this "April Fool's" event that seems to happen to Elsie every year - most years she manages to avoid being the target - but this year...well, I'll let the strip speak for itself.
In the earlier days of this comic strip, (non-publicated days), Elsie went by another name: Mrs. Offerocker - and exhibited some wild and crazy ideas. Sage was a character that I had created for a different venue: an old associate of mine was putting together a weather-style book for kids, and wanted me to draw up some characters. Sage was one of the first that I created, but when the venture didn't work out, I kept Sage close by, knowing that he would work in some other fashion - and he does, as Elsie's husband!

the Easter Eve strip from March 23 2008

Once, several years ago, I was in Hawaii with my friend, Paul - and we decided to climb Diamond Head, to watch the sunrise on Easter morning. This would replace going to church, and we felt justified by doing so. Of course, the morning was just beautiful, and at that time, you could drive up to the Diamond Head parking lot, and just begin hiking at whatever time you wanted, so it was easy enough to get to the top for sunrise. Climbing Diamond Head in the dark was always an interesting experience, let me tell you. We took our time, and by the time we arrived at the top, we still had about 10 minutes before sunrise. And then we saw the sun come up, and it was terrific. In the sky, on the opposite side of the sunrise, a rainbow had formed, and this rainbow was without end, just a big circle. We had never seen a rainbow like that before, and took it as a sign - that God had given us that special gift, just like the gift of his son.

God's greatest gift of all is his son, Jesus Christ - and we are so blessed to have been the recipient of that gift - that Jesus died on the cross for our sins, and rose from the dead to offer us everlasting life. Halleluja!

the strip for March 8 2008

You know, sometimes it's easier to create an idea that encompasses several ideas, rather than try to come up with one general gag. It just so happened with this strip. And that's the way it goes in Fayette, at times: there can be a lot going on, or absolutely nothing - but that is rare. However, with a strip like today's, it seems like I always have the chance to include more characters - and there's a large amount of them here. In the first panel, you know Ed and Myrtle Gosselbaum. But you probably didn't know that Elsie is Myrtle's sister - they do have some resemblances, don't they? The second panel involves the Tucker family: we see Adam, Tom and Baby William. I hope it's not confusing trying to read the one panel divided into three. (There are some people who have trouble with this kind of thing, but for now, they'll remain nameless...). Spatz and Sassy make up panel numba 3 - which took me back to the old days, when Spatz used to dress up as a cat, and thought he'd be adopted that way - because cats always have it easier. Well, that didn't work, because he's still without a family! And in the last panel, that's Elda Gosselbaum, Ed's mother! (See panel 1).

the March 1 2008 strip

Alright, this is where I start to get personal. Yes, I do have my fetishes when it comes to food. I would probably do something like Ed is doing in this entry, but it would have to be for way more than pancakes. (More like chocolate chip pancakes, or the like.) I enjoy doing this bit every year, and I just never know what Ed will do next time, nor do I know just how much Myrtle will put up with. But she does know one thing: the way to get Ed to do ANYTHING is through his stomach (that sounds kinda weird, doesn't it?)
