Toons and me

- My interest in reading and producing comics began at a very early age, and I'm not sure why. Back then, the Mickey Mouse and Popeye cartoons really caught my eye, when I was 5 or so. "Peanuts" became my world beginning at the age of 6, and I could draw most of the Charlie Brown gang before the age of 8 - first I traced the Sunday page, and soon I was able to draw them free style. The flicker was lit, and my desire to draw cartoons has never subsided. Also, I had a lot of siblings running around, and one of my favorite places to get away from it all was the comics. I could go into my own little world and visit my "friends" whenever I wanted. Back then, it was mostly "Peanuts", but soon I broadened my comic horizon to "Pogo", "B.C", "Dennis the Menace", and always made sure I read the daily comics - especially the wonderful colorful Sunday editions.

Loved your Mother's Day tribute. I look forward to what you will create,especially for Mother's Day. I just loved your idea of "sayings". We all remember what "Moms" typically say. I thought back to what my mom used to say and came up with the two that stick out in my mind the most. They are as follows: "As long as you are living under my roof you will do as I say" and the other was "If everyone was jumping off of a bridge, would you have to do that too?" Of course, she was referring to my constant, " Gee Mom, everybody else gets to do that-why can't I?"
So thanks again for reminding us "that our mother's voice will always be heard in our heart."
I find it interesting that a lot of us can actually say we heard much of the same "comments" from our Mom over the years - almost like there was a book called "Comments to Your Kids" that all Moms read at one time.
